When the Villain Looks More Like the Hero
Have you ever liked a villain more than the hero? Sometimes a character may appear more courageous, clever, or determined than the hero. But the Bible reminds us that character is measured not only by what we accomplish, but by the condition of our heart before God.
King Saul is a powerful biblical example. He was chosen to lead Israel, yet his disobedience and jealousy eventually led him away from God’s will (1 Samuel 15:22–23; 18:8–9). David, on the other hand, was not perfect, but he continually sought God and was described as a man after God’s heart (Acts 13:22).
The lesson is simple: never judge a life only by appearances. What looks heroic to people may not be pleasing to God.
«“Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7).
May God give us wisdom to recognize true righteousness, choose what is pleasing to Him, and become examples of godly character to the next generation.
What matters most is not whether people see us as heroes, but whether God sees a heart that belongs to Him.
